Hialeah, FL (December XX, 2016) – Dr. Ariol Labrada, a board-certified neurologist, achieves top recognition from Hialeah Hospital as the 2016 Physician of the Year.  Dr. Labrada exemplifies Hialeah Hospital’s mission statement, which is to provide safety, comfort and excellence in customer service. Dr. Labrada was nominated and selected by the hospital employees for this year’s award.

Dr. Labrada’s core interests include stroke and vascular neurology, neurocritical care, polyneuropathies and headaches. He completed a Vascular Neurology Fellow at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. Prior to the fellowship, he was a neurology resident at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where he was Chief Resident and the Neurocritical Care Resident of the Year in 2012. He attended medical school at Instituto Superior de Ciencias Medicas Santiago de Cuba. His internships included stints at LSU and Hospital Docente Provincial Holguin in Cuba.

During his professional experience as a house physician, he took care of patients at five different hospitals and an ambulatory center in Miami. He also served patients as a first surgical assistant in five separate surgery lines (neurosurgery, vascular surgery, general and endoscope surgery, urological, orthopedic and plastic surgery).

Dr. Labrada’s past experience includes clinical research on seven different studies including neuropathy, ischemic stroke, cerebrovascular biorepository, heart valves and aneurismal subarachnoid hemorrhage. He is a member of the American Heart/Stroke Association, American Medical Association and American Academy of Neurology.
