The Children’s Embassy organization has arrived in Miami with the goal of providing the children of Little Havana with several programs to give the children access to Art Classes, Mentors, Tutorial classes and many more programs that will enhance and serve the needs of the children of Little Havana that are our future.

The Children’s Embassy’s first event was hosting the second and third grade classes of Citrus Grove Elementary school with our community partner Betancourt Art Gallery located at 1465 SW 8 St Suite 104B. Over 50 pieces of Artwork were showcased and exhibited during “Calle Ocho Culture Friday” this past April 29, 2016. As the children arrived to see their Artwork exhibited at one of Little Havana’s well known Art Galleries owned by local Artist Brenda M Betancourt, the children were extremely surprised to find themselves greeted at the Gallery by Billy the mascot for the Miami Marlins baseball team and the Miami Marlins Cheerleaders. Billy and the Cheerleaders were awaiting the children to play games and donate t-shirts for all of the children and parents. The Children’s Embassy expressed their gratitude and support to the Marlins organization whose presence was key in providing an extremely successful event for the children of our Little Havana community.

In closing, Brenda M Betancourt along with Miguel Soliman, also a community activist, and with the help of the City of Miami’s solid waste department is organizing a “Do Not Litter” campaign in the areas close to Citrus Grove Elementary with the children and parents. We will keep you posted with details for this great event!
