Celebrating Love and Renewing Vows: A Heartwarming Event in the City of Hialeah For the second consecutive year, the City of Hialeah has witnessed a remarkable event that celebrates the enduring love and commitment of couples. This event, initiated by the passionate Councilwoman Monica Perez, aims to honor and renew the vows of couples who have been married for 40 years or more who live in the city.

The inspiration behind this event stems from the unique backgrounds of these couples, many of whom originated from the communist country of Cuba. In the midst of a revolution and closed churches, these couples were unable to have the grand weddings they had dreamed of. Instead, they settled for civil ceremonies, devoid of the presence of their families and loved ones.

Recognizing their unfulfilled desires, Councilwoman Monica Pérez felt compelled to organize a special occasion that would give these couples the opportunity to have the wedding celebration they had missed while Honoring the examples that their love represents in our city of loyalty, patience and demonstrates how to love one another. The event is not only a heartfelt gesture but also a way of giving back to the community.

Without the unwavering support of generous sponsors, Vivamas Medical center, Estrella Medical Center, Commissioner Rene Garcia, Cricket wireless, MegaTv, Councilman Jesus Tundidor and many others such as famous Makeup artist/Hairdresser Marisol Casola’s who even beautified the brides before the ceremony, photographer Eddy Lara this event would not have been possible. These sponsors and many more are always eager to bring joy to the seniors of Hialeah, playing a vital role in making this event a reality year after year.

Their contributions and dedication are invaluable, and their involvement adds an extra layer of meaning to this celebration. As a Councilwoman, hosting this event has become one of my favorite events. Witnessing these couples walk down the aisle for the second time, their eyes filled with tears of joy, is an incredibly moving experience. These couples serve as living examples of what it truly means to love, honor, cherish, and remain committed through the ups and downs of life.

Life is not always filled with rainbows and sunshine, and these couples have faced their fair share of challenges. Yet, they have stood the test of time and emerged stronger together. Their stories of resilience and devotion inspire the community and remind us of the power of love. Este evento, iniciado por una apasionada concejala, tiene como objetivo honrar y renovar los votos de parejas que llevan casadas más de 40 años.

La inspiración detrás de este evento proviene de los trasfondos únicos de estas parejas, muchas de las cuales provienen del país comunista de Cuba. En medio de una revolución y de iglesias cerradas, estas parejas no pudieron tener las grandes bodas que habían soñado. En su lugar, se conformaron con ceremonias civiles, sin la presencia de sus familias y seres queridos. Reconociendo sus deseos no cumplidos, la concejala sintió la necesidad de organizar una ocasión especial que les brindara a estas parejas la oportunidad de tener la celebración de bodas que habían perdido. El evento no solo es un gesto conmovedor, sino también una forma de retribuir a la comunidad.

Sin el apoyo inquebrantable de generosos patrocinadores, este evento no habría sido posible. Estos patrocinadores, siempre dispuestos a llevar alegría a los adultos mayores de Hialeah, desempeñan un papel vital en hacer realidad este evento año tras año.

Como concejala, organizar este evento se ha convertido en una de las actividades favoritas de la concejala. Presenciar a estas parejas caminando hacia el altar por segunda vez, con los ojos llenos de lágrimas de alegría, es una experiencia increíblemente conmovedora.
