On Wednesday, December 8, the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce hosted their December luncheon at the Shula’s Hotel & Golf Club in the Grand Slam Ballroom. Manny Cid, the Town of Miami Lakes Mayor, was the guest speaker at the luncheon. He discussed a variety of topics of interest for Miami Lakes business owners and residents. He emphasized the efforts he has made to help the town “grow beautifully”. The incorporation of millennial-focused businesses such as daycares, studios for extra-curricular activities, and restaurants have helped increase traffic throughout the town. Increasing foot traffic has also been at the top of the Mayor’s agenda since being elected. The retail community has also grown in Miami Lakes since he became mayor, especially with small businesses. He is working diligently to keep the growth of Miami Lakes at this pace and is proud of the progress the town has made such as opening restaurants like 107 Taste, Cruzeiro Brazilian Steakhouse, Sushi Sake, Bolay, Korner 67, and Chela’s. Catering to a younger crowd can help bring young people and growing families to the town.
When Mayor Cid wanted to start his podcast, he reached out to the students from Mater Lakes Academy to see if they would be interested in participating. At the beginning it was seven students and now, it is a ninety student broadcasting course. The students from the course attended to record Mayor Cid the luncheon for a live broadcasting of the podcast. It was a great turnout from both Chamber members and non-Chamber members. The Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce looks forward to seeing what Miami Lakes will evolve into throughout the remainder of Mayor Cid’s term. The Chamber enjoys hosting these luncheons monthly and they are enthusiastic about the prosperity the new year has to offer. Miami Lakes Chamber luncheons take place every second Wednesday of the month and are discounted for members. If you would like to attend the Chamber’s next luncheon on January 12, 2022, or apply for a membership, please visit www.miamilakeschamber.com.
