The Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce hosted its monthly luncheon at the Miami Lakes Hotel on Wednesday, May 14 with special guest speaker, Major Jose Gonzalez, Commander of the Miami Lakes Police. The hotel’s ballroom lobby buzzed with conversation as attendees gathered to hear Major Gonzalez’s insights on the role of law enforcement in Miami Lakes during the nationally recognized Police Week. Guests enjoyed coffee, pastries, and a lunch entrée, and refreshing beverages provided by the Miami Lakes Hotel.
The event brought together over seventy local professionals representing diverse industries, including attorneys, insurance agents, physicians, and other prominent community leaders. The gathering fostered meaningful conversations and valuable networking opportunities among attendees. Chamber President Ray Palacios addressed the audience, highlighting the Chamber’s dedication to continuous growth, community engagement, and a proactive expansion of membership initiatives throughout the upcoming year. The atmosphere was vibrant and guests were eagerly networking, reflecting a strong sense of unity and shared purpose within the Miami Lakes business community.
Major Gonzalez shared his admirable journey, spanning over 30 years in law enforcement. Beginning his career with the New York Police Department, he honed his expertise in midtown Manhattan before joining the Miami-Dade Police Department, where he held diverse assignments in narcotics, robbery intervention, investigations, SWAT operations, and community policing in Kendall. Over the past five years, he has served the Town of Miami Lakes, leading a dedicated team of 46 officers focused on safety and crime reduction.
Major Gonzalez emphasized the importance of high-visibility patrols and proactive crime prevention strategies, particularly in reducing vehicle burglaries in the Town of Miami Lakes. His leadership continues to shape the Town’s approach to public safety, ensuring a strong partnership between law enforcement and the local community.
In honor of National Foster Care Month, 4KIDS was highlighted as a spotlight speaker. Dedicated to bringing hope, homes, and healing to children and families in crisis, 4KIDS serves communities across Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties, as well as the Treasure Coast and Southwest Florida. Their impactful work continues to transform lives, ensuring that every child has a safe and loving environment to thrive.
