Today it would be enough to compare the skyline of Downtown Miami with a photograph from 30 years ago.
The American Institute of Architects states that Downtown Miami has the third largest concentration of skyscrapers in the United States, surpassed only by New York and Chicago.
830 Brickell
This tower is moving closer to completion, 55 stories and 724 feet high, making it the tallest office building in the Brickell area, on SW 8 Street and Brickell Plaza Ave.
Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill Architecture, the acclaimed firm behind the Jeddah Tower and the Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world, designed 55 floors of uninterrupted glass, illuminated day and night.
The eight-story parking garage will function as the tower’s podium and is covered with a sprawling sheet of aluminum squares that move in the wind as they reflect the Downtown Miami neighborhood’s movement and light.
The Residences at 1428 Brickell
Italian architecture firm ACPV Architects has designed a 70-story solar-powered luxury residential tower with 189-units and offices.
Units will be priced from $2 million to $7 million, plus penthouses asking from $8 million to more than $40 million.
One Brickell City Centre
The Miami-based Swire Properties Inc. is replacing a 10-story office building at 700 Brickell Avenue with 68 floors and 1.5 million square feet of space.
The project integrates into Brickell City Centre, with and direct connection to the Metromover light rail system, completing this iconic site with more office and retail space.
The building boasts outdoor terraces on every floor, floor-to-ceiling windows and oversized 15-foot to 20-foot floor-to-floor heights offering expansive views of Brickell Bay and South Beach.
The project was designed by the internationally renowned architecture firm Arquitectonica, the creator of iconic buildings in Miami like 500 Brickell Towers, Brickell City Center, and the Miami Heat arena.
Brickell Gateway
With 62 floors, Brickell Gateway tower calls for 93,209 square feet, with an estimated value of $150 million.
According to plan, the tower will have 504 apartments, 18,287 square feet of retail, and a garage with 344 parking spaces.
Brickell Gateway will be a luxury high-rise apartment building. It will be located at the southeast corner of SW 8th Street and SW 1st Avenue.
1428 Brickell
This building will host a 71-story solar-powered luxury residential tower.
Plans include 500 photovoltaic-integrated windows to generate electricity.
Real estate development firm Ytech is behind this project with a magnificent $60 million penthouse at the very top of the tower.
At over 12,000 square feet under a soaring 30-foot ceiling, the two-story penthouse boasts 7 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, east-facing balconies with stunning views, private elevators, and a second-floor elevator within the residence.
Designed by Milan-based ACPV ARCHITECTS, the penthouse will include a harmonious blend of luxury, inspired by the spirit of architectural and design experts.
JEM Private Residences
Records show that the 67-story JEM Private Residences at 1016 NE 2nd Ave, one block away from the Paramount Miami World Center.
According to the plan, the building will include 259 condominium units on levels 39-61, and 530 multi-family units on levels 10-38.
The building height is listed at 699 feet, which is the maximum permitted by zoning in the area.
The estimated hard construction cost is estimated to be around $130 million.

A taller tower is coming to Brickell. The giant new tower will rise 80 stories right behind the historic First Miami Presbyterian Church.
Developers 13th Floor Investments & Key International are moving forward with their ambitious project, designed by Sieger Suarez Architects.
The 3.4-acre site at 609 Brickell Avenue is one of the last vacant pieces of land in the popular Miami district, where condominium units sell for millions.
The historic First Miami Presbyterian Church, built in 1949 and designated as a historical landmark in 2003, will remain intact.
Waldorf Astoria Residences
We saved the tallest for last. The Waldorf Astoria Residences tower will become a Miami´s icon with revolutionary design and 100 floors.
Architect Carlos Ott, with the help of Sieger Suarez, designed the building to resemble a pile of unevenly stacked glass cubes.
At 1,049 feet tall, this will be Miami’s and south of New York tallest tower. Residences will have dramatic views of Biscayne Bay, the Port of Miami, Brickell Avenue, Downtown Miami, Key Biscayne, and South Beach.
Carlos Ott was part of the group behind the famous Burj Al Arab in Dubai, and amazing residential buildings in Miami like Echo Brickell, Echo Aventura, and Muse Sunny Isles in Greater Miami.

El empinado edificio, que fue diseñado por Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, la aclamada firma que ejecutó Jeddah Tower y el Burj Khalifa, presenta una cascada de 55 pisos de vidrio ininterrumpido, iluminados día y noche.
El estacionamiento de 8 pisos funciona como podio de la torre y está cubierto por pequeñas láminas de aluminio que se mueven con el viento para expresar el movimiento y la luz de esta céntrica zona del centro de Miami.

Según el plan, el edificio contará con 259 condominios de lujo en los niveles 39-61 y 530 viviendas adicionales en los niveles 10-38.
La altura de la edificación será de 699 pies, que es la máxima permitida por las reglas de urbanismo en esa zona.
El costo estimado de la construcción está estimado en $130 millones.

Esta será, al menos por ahora, la torre más alta de Brickell Avenue. El arquitecto Carlos Ott, con la ayuda de Sieger Suárez, diseñó el edificio que denota una serie de cubos de vidrios apilados de manera desigual.
Con 1,049 pies de altura, esta será la torre más alta de Miami y la costa este de Estados Unidos al sur de Nueva York. Los condominios contarán con vistas panorámicas espectaculares de la Bahía de Biscayne, el Puerto de Miami, Brickell Avenue, el centro de Miami, Key Biscayne y South Beach.
