La Calle Ocho, sitio icónico de nuestra ciudad donde se encuentran localizados los negocios del exitoso empresario Fidel Asís López, Fide como cariñosamente es llamado por sus amigos y empleados.
De padres exiliados y una larga tradición familiar en el giro del comercio y de la ropa comienza su carrera con su padre a principios de la década de los años 70 donde establecen una cadena de tiendas en Westchester y otros sitios de Miami Dade County, con su padre aprende como sastre y diseñador de vidrieras de exhibición para sus modelos de ropa juvenil de la época, arte que utiliza hasta la fecha, siendo él personalmente quien prepara las vidrieras de exhibición de sus tiendas.
Posteriormente expande sus negocios al Condado de Broward y en esta década añade la Calle 8 con la apertura de sus tres negocios de ropa y turismo cultural, en La Colección Habana (the Havana Collection), Guayaberas D’Asis y en la Galería Futurama. El pasado año antes de la pandemia y adyacente al «Callejón del Gallo» inaugura su negocio de «Churro manía», también inicia la apertura de su primera tienda en el Aeropuerto Internacional de Miami.
La pasión por los gallos y la cultura Cubana lo llevan a ser un protector de artistas, pintores y nuestras mejores tradiciones costumbristas y autóctonas. En sus planes futuros se encuentran agradables bellas sorpresas que serán reveladas próximamente en el «Callejón del gallo».
Preserving our Cuban culture and developing tourism on Calle 8 in Little Havana
Calle Ocho is an iconic site in our city where the businesses of the successful businessman Fidel Asís López are located, Fide as affectionately called by his friends and employees.
His exiled parents and a long family tradition in the business and clothing industry, he began his career with his father in the early 70’s where they established a chain of stores in Westchester and other parts of Miami Dade County, with his Father, learning as a tailor and designer of window display for his models youth clothing of the time, art that he uses to date, being himself the one who prepares the display windows for his stores.
He than expanded his businesses to Broward County and over the past decade added Calle 8 with the opening of its three clothing stores and cultural tourism businesses, The Havana Collection, Guayaberas D’Asis and in the Futurama Gallery. Last year before the pandemic and adjacent to «Callejón del Gallo» he inaugurated his «Churro mania» business, he also began opening his two stores in the Miami International Airport.
His passion for roosters and Cuban culture lead him to be a protector of artists, painters and our best customs and native traditions. In his future plans there are pleasant and beautiful surprises that will be revealed soon in the «Callejón del gallo»
