GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Specialty Smiles Orthodontics of Miami Lakes, FL was named to the University of Florida’s 2023 Gator100, ranked as #35, during a ceremony on April 21 in the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on UF’s campus.

Each year, the Gator100 recognizes the world’s fastest-growing Gator businesses owned or led by UF alumni. Ernst & Young, independent accounting firm of the Gator100 since the program began in 2015, verifies financial information submitted by each company and calculates the rankings based on compound annual growth rate over the past three years.

Specialty Smiles Orthodontics provides the highest quality orthodontic care to patients of all ages, including braces, Invisalign and InBrace (braces behind the teeth!), using the latest treatment techniques and technology.  Their team of orthodontic professionals provides the highest quality customer service and experience.  Dr. Eddy J Sedeño, born and raised in Miami Lakes, and Dr. Melissa Alfonso Sedeño are both American Board of Orthodontics Certified Orthodontists.  In the past 6 years they have served over 6,000 patients in their Miami Lakes, Miramar, Davie, and North Miami offices.  They continue their mission for everyone to “Love Your Smile!”, and to create a positive orthodontic experience for children and adults in a caring and family centered environment.

Specialty Smiles Orthodontics is the second business located in Miami Lakes to ever receive this prestigious award, with CEI (now located in Medley, FL) being the first in 2017.  Specialty Smiles Orthodontics’ Gator100 Globe Trophy finally reached its home in Miami Lakes, FL this month following manufacturing delays.  Photos of Dr. Sedeño and Dr. Alfonso Sedeño from the Gator100 ceremony and in Miami Lakes are included below.

The 2023 Gator100 celebrated companies from over 18 industries, with the top three representing construction and design, health, and real estate. Of the 100 businesses, 77 were Florida companies with other top state headquarters including Georgia, South Carolina, and California.

“These UF alumni-owned or -led companies create jobs, add value to our communities, and make an impact around the world,” said Brian K. Danforth, Assistant Vice President of Development and Executive Director of the UF Alumni Association. “These 2023 honorees represent the very best of our Gator entrepreneurs and business leaders. They shine a bright light on the University of Florida and the graduates it produces – people with vision, drive and determination.”
