En una conmovedora celebración de fe, servicio y comunidad, el Hospital de Rehabilitación St. Catherine’s West y el Centro de Enfermería Especializada Villa María West recibieron a clérigos, personal, pacientes e invitados el 15 de mayo de 2025 para la bendición y dedicación de una nueva estatua de su patrona, Santa Catalina Labouré.
La ceremonia fue presidida por el Arzobispo Thomas Wenski, quien ofreció la bendición oficial de la estatua, ahora instalada permanentemente en los terrenos del hospital como símbolo de sanación, esperanza y cuidado compasivo. La estatua, bellamente elaborada, honra a la santa conocida por la medalla milagrosa inspirada en sus visiones.
Mary Jo Frick, presidenta y directora ejecutiva de Catholic Health Services, dio la bienvenida a los presentes con emotivas palabras. “Cuando este edificio estaba en su fase de planificación, hace muchos años, se eligió a Santa Catalina para enfatizar el propósito de nuestro trabajo aquí: como patrona de los ancianos y enfermos, con una fe capaz de mover montañas, era la elección perfecta”, expresó.
Nathaniel Johnson, director ejecutivo del Centro de Enfermería Especializada Villa María West, ofreció una conmovedora reflexión sobre la vida y el legado de Santa Catalina Labouré. “Su vida nos recuerda que Dios a menudo elige a los callados, los humildes y los ocultos para realizar su obra más grande”, compartió Johnson.
El Dr. Brian Kiedrowski, director médico de CHS y administrador interino del Hospital de Rehabilitación St. Catherine’s West, concluyó el programa expresando su gratitud hacia el personal comprometido con la misión del hospital y al constante apoyo de la comunidad de Catholic Health Services. “Esto es más que una dedicación – es un símbolo de fe, compasión y
servicio hecho de piedra, para mantenernos firmes en nuestra misión”, señaló el Dr. Kiedrowski.
Durante el evento, se presentó un reconocimiento especial de parte de la Ciudad de Hialeah Gardens en honor a las destacadas contribuciones del Hospital de Rehabilitación St. Catherine’s West a la comunidad.
Uno de los momentos más destacados de la ceremonia fue la encantadora y animada presentación de los niños de Centro Mater, que deleitaron a los asistentes y provocaron sonrisas y aplausos de todos los presentes.
Después de la bendición al aire libre, los invitados fueron recibidos en el interior para realizar recorridos guiados por las instalaciones, donde se mostraron las renovaciones recientes y los avances en la atención al paciente. Se ofrecieron refrigerios, brindando la oportunidad de compartir y celebrar el continuo compromiso del hospital con la sanación, inspirado en el espíritu de su santa patrona.

Blessing & Dedication of the Statue of St. Catherine Labouré at St. Catherine’s West Rehabilitation Hospital
In a moving celebration of faith, service, and community, St. Catherine’s West Rehabilitation Hospital and Villa Maria West Skilled Nursing Facility welcomed clergy, staff, patients, and guests on May 15, 2025, for the blessing and dedication of a new statue of its patroness, St. Catherine Labouré.
The ceremony was led by Archbishop Thomas Wenski, who offered the official blessing of the statue, now permanently installed on the hospital grounds as a symbol of healing, hope, and compassionate care. The beautifully crafted statue honors the saint known for the miraculous medal inspired by her visions.
Mary Jo Frick, President and CEO of Catholic Health Services, welcomed the crowd with heartfelt remarks. “When this building was in the planning stages, many years ago, St. Catherine was chosen to emphasize the purpose of our work here as the patron saint of the elderly and infirmed, with faith to move mountains, she was the perfect choice,” she said.
Nathaniel Johnson, Executive Director of Villa Maria West Skilled Nursing Facility, offered a moving reflection on the life and legacy of St. Catherine Labouré. “, Her life reminds us that God often chooses the quiet, the humble, and the hidden to do His greatest work.” Johnson shared.
Dr. Brian Kiedrowski, Chief Medical Officer for CHS and Acting Hospital Administrator for St. Catherine’s West Rehabilitation Hospital, concluded the program by expressing gratitude for the hospital’s mission-driven staff and the ongoing support of the Catholic Health Services community. “This is more than a dedication—it’s a symbol of faith, compassion, and service made of stone to keep us steadfast on our mission.,” Dr. Kiedrowski noted.
A special award was presented from the City of Hialeah Gardens recognizing outstanding contributions of St. Catherine’s West Rehabilitation to the community.
A highlight of the ceremony was the children of Centro Mater as they delighted the attendees with an adorable and spirited performance, drawing warm smiles and applause from all present.
Following the outdoor blessing, guests were invited inside for guided tours of the facility, showcasing recent renovations and advancements in patient care. Refreshments were served, allowing attendees to connect and celebrate the hospital’s ongoing commitment to healing in the spirit of its patron saint.
