On Saturday, April 24th, Miami-based artist Miss Lushy and the Kcull Life Foundation hosted the official reveal ceremony of the first cultural art installation in the Calle Ocho Latin Music & Art Series by featuring the iconic Cuban Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz. The mural is a celebration of the life and legacy lived by the iconic artist and the influence her music touched within Latin music and its culture. The Celia Cruz mural showcases vibrant colors and textures that resemble the life lived by the late singer and located at the corner of Celia’s star on Calle Ocho’s Famous Walk of Fame in Little Havana, Florida.
The community celebration was immersed with both art enthusiasts and salsa lovers from all cultural backgrounds. The Celia Cruz mural was received with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and welcoming speech by City of Miami Commissioner Joe Carollo, followed by live music entertainment, Cuban salsa dancers, in-person cigar roller by Cigar Stud, and specialty mojito and rum cocktails provided by Bacardi.
The Community Music & Art Mural Series is founded by Kcull Life Inc, a not-for-profit organization created to showcase talented local artists in purpose-driven projects such as beautifying and preserving overlooked neighborhoods with culturally relevant visual art uniting communities and sparking conversations. The mission of the Community Music & Art Series is to introduce art pieces that reflect the incredible culture and history rooted by influential musicians and iconic figures that impacted neighborhoods in South Florida. Kcull Shop has three stores located in historical areas in Miami, such as Little Havana, Overtown, and Coconut Grove, that features arts and crafts from upcoming local artists and emerging brands and connecting them with the consumer in a unique communal merchant space.
Alexandra Seda, professionally known as Miss Lushy, is a young self accomplished Latin artist whose art pieces are created with the foundation to inspire and make a positive impact on cultural movements using a variety of color pallets and textures. “I chose to paint Celi Cruz because she hasn’t been celebrated in recent years and is an important music influencer within the Cuban culture and Miami’s Latin lifestyle as a whole. Her music is more than just feel-good songs, they’re an expression through her vibrant rhythm and soul that reaches to so many generations”, said Miss Lushy.
This event was made possible by the support and sponsorship of the Celia Cruz Legacy Project, Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) / Art of Black, and the City of Miami that believed in the movement and supported the vision of the cultural arts initiative within communities. The Celia Cruz mural also is now a destination stop on the Little Havana Walking Tours.

El sábado 24 de Abril, la artista con sede en Miami Miss Lushy y la Fundación Kcull Life organizaron la ceremonia oficial de revelación de la primera instalación de arte cultural en Calle Ocho Latin Music & Art Series presentando a la icónica reina cubana de la salsa, Celia Cruz. El mural es una celebración de la vida y el legado vivido por la icónica artista y la influencia que su música tocó dentro de la música latina y cultural. El mural de Celia Cruz exhibe colores vibrantes y texturas que se asemejan a la vida vivida por la difunta cantante y ubicado en la esquina de la estrella de Celia en el Walk of Fame de la Pequeña Habana, Florida.
La celebración comunitaria estuvo inmersa tanto con entusiastas del arte como con amantes de la salsa de todos los orígenes culturales. El mural de Celia Cruz fue recibido con una ceremonia de inauguración y un discurso de bienvenida por parte del Comisionado de la Ciudad de Miami, Joe Carollo, seguido de entretenimiento con música en vivo, bailarinas de salsa cubana, purificador de cigarros en persona de Cigar Stud cócteles especiales de mojito y ron proporcionados por Bacardi.
Community Music & Art Mural Series es fundada por Kcull Life Inc, una organización sin fines de lucro creada para exhibir a artistas locales talentosos en proyectos con propósitos específicos, como embellecer y preservar vecindarios pasados por alto con contenido culturalmente relevante visual que reúne comunidades y genera conversaciones. La misión de Community Music & Art Series es presentar piezas de arte que reflejan la increíble cultura e historia arraigada por músicos influyentes y figuras icónicas que impactaron a los vecindarios del sur de Florida. Kcull Shop tiene tres tiendas ubicadas en áreas históricas de Miami, como Little Havana, Overtown y Coconut Grove, que presentan artesanías de artistas locales emergentes, marcas nuevas y las conecta con el consumidor en un espacio comercial comunitario único.

Su música es más que canciones para sentirse bien, es una expresión a través de su ritmo vibrante y su alma que llega a tantas generaciones ”, dijo Miss Lushy.
