My Psychiatrist and My TMS appoints Dr. Patricia Ares-Romero to the position of Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of My Psychiatrist and My TMS. In her new role, she will be responsible for expanding the healthcare offerings in Miami-Dade County, with an innovative approach to create a vision for the future of behavioral health.

“Dr. Ares-Romero is perfect to lead My Psychiatrist because of her commitment to mental health and her continued perseverance to deliver expert care to our community,” said CEO Dr. Howard Schwartz. “We are pleased to welcome Dr. Ares-Romero into her new role. She will serve as an excellent representative for our medical staff and employees.

Dr. Ares-Romero is double board-certified, a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a diplomat of the American Board of Preventive Medicine as a specialist in Addiction Medicine.  She is an Associate Professor for the University Of Miami School Of Medicine, for the Department of Psychiatry and Department of Anesthesiology – Pain Medicine Fellowship. She also serves as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry for Ross University, St. Georges University, and the American University of the Caribbean. She also serves as Secretary and Treasurer for the Dade County Medical Association and The National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Before her current role, she served as the Chief Medical Officer for Jackson Behavioral Health System. During her tenure, she implemented many programs throughout the health system.  She pioneered the first Medication Assisted Treatment Clinic at Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital; she also piloted a medical home model (integrated behavioral health) and treatment-resistant clinic, among other healthcare initiatives. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, she was instrumental in implementing telemedicine to enhance care for patients, reducing their exposure, and keeping the front lines safe.

Dr. Ares-Romero has been awarded grants through SAMHSA, BJA, and FADAA.   She has received numerous awards, most recently Latinas in Medicine – Hispanic Women of Distinction 2020, “Woman of Inspiration Award 2019,” and “Most Powerful Women in Healthcare Award 2017”.
