Con la ceremonia de investidura de Madeline Pumariega como la quinta Presidenta del Miami Dade College en el Centro de Artes Adrienne Arsht, de la Ciudad de Miami, el pasado 10 de Diciembre queda marcado un hito en esta prestigiosa Institución de Educación Superior en los Estados Unidos. La flamante Investida Presidenta de Miami Dade College es producto de dicha Institución que se convierte de su estudiante y basquetbolista en el Campus de Kendall en la quinta Presidenta de su propia Alma Mater, para conducir los destinos de uno de los más grandes Colegios Universitarios del país y el más grande del Estado de la Florida con ocho recintos universitarios y más de ciento veinte mil estudiantes y seis mil doscientos profesores y empleados.
Madeline Pumariega rompe barreras y establece pautas al convertirse en la quinta Presidenta del Miami Dade College en sus 61 años de fundados, siendo la primera mujer hispana de Hialeah de padres cubanos exilados que logra tan alta posición en nuestro sistema educacional, siendo un ejemplo a seguir por sus propios estudiantes que liderara. El camino no ha sido fácil, cabe destacar como apunta la Presidenta en su discurso de aceptación, los retos y los logros desde que asumió el cargo en el mes de Enero del 2021, donde debido a la pandemia del COVID 19 habían declinado las matrículas en más de nueve mil estudiantes, anunciando que en la actualidad se habían sobrepasado en más de un dos por ciento la cifra original pre pandémica.
Otro de los logros de nuestra flamante Presidenta Madeline Pumariega en el área de apoyo económico a la institución que preside se vio demostrada en la inauguración a su cargo con la donación de veinte y cinco millones de dólares por parte de MTX Group Inc. para la Educación de entrenamiento de una fuerza de trabajo y desarrollo de talentos. No menos importante lo fue en el área de tecnología para «inteligencia artificial» de un millón de dólares de parte de la Autoridad de Desarrollo del Centro de Miami para Inteligencia Artificial. Con estos resultados en los inicios de sus funciones como «Madame Presidente de MDC» auguramos los más rotundos éxitos en su gestión presidencial del MDC.
En otro ámbito de su gestión como Madame Presidente de MDC, Madeline Pumariega demuestra sus grandes cualidades ejecutivas en el campo de Academia al lograr el más reciente galardón que recibió la institución «El Sello de Excelencia». La Excelencia en la Educación, la principal autoridad de los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica en iniciativas para acelerar el éxito de los estudiantes latinos en la educación universitaria anunció que: «El Miami Dade College (MDC) ha sido certificado con su Sello de Excelencia en 2021». ¡Felicitaciones MDC, Madame Presidente Madeline Pumariega! The essence of Miami Dade College is embodied in its President Madeline Pumariega.
With the investiture ceremony of Madeline Pumariega as the fifth President of Miami Dade College at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Arts, in the City of Miami, on December 10 a milestone was marked in this prestigious Institution of Higher Education in the United States. The brand-new President of Miami Dade College is a product of said Institution.
She goes from being a student and basketball player at the Kendall Campus to the fifth President of her own Alma Mater, leading the destinies of one of the largest University Colleges in the country and the largest in the State of Florida with eight university campuses and more than 120,000 students and 6,200 teachers and employees.
Madeline Pumariega breaks barriers and sets standards by becoming the fifth President of Miami Dade College in its 61 years of foundation, being the first Hispanic woman from Hialeah of exiled Cuban parents to achieve such a high position in our educational system, and being an example to follow by her own students that she will lead. It is worth noting that the road has not been easy, as the President points out in her acceptance speech.
The President noted both the challenges she faced when she took office in January 2021, where due to the COVID 19 pandemic, enrollment declined by over nine thousand students. She was happy to announce new achievements, however. Now, the original pre-pandemic enrollment figure has been exceeded by more than two percent. Our brand-new President Madeline Pumariega has also seen achievements in the area of financial support for the institution she presides over.
At her inauguration, the institution was presented with a donation of twenty-five million dollars by MTX Group Inc. for the education, training, and talent development of a workforce. No less important, in the area of technology the institution received a one million dollar «artificial intelligence» sum on behalf of the Development Authority of the Miami Center for Artificial Intelligence. With these results at the beginning of her tenure as «Madame President of MDC» we predict she will have the most resounding successes during her presidential term.
In another area of her role as Madame President of MDC, Madeline Pumariega demonstrates her great executive qualities in the academic field by achieving the most recent award that the institution received, «The Seal of Excellence». Excellence in Education, the United States of America’s leading authority on initiatives to accelerate the success of Latino students in college education announced that: «Miami Dade College (MDC) has been certified with its Seal of Excellence in 2021 «.
