The Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce hosted their monthly luncheon at the Miami Lakes Hotel on Wednesday, February 9th with special guest speaker, WSVN7 Meteorologist Vivian Gonzalez. The Miami Lakes Hotel Ballroom lobby was bustling with attendees eager to enter the venue and hear guest speaker Vivian Gonzalez’s presentation focusing on hurricane preparedness and her inspirational career. Hot coffee, a delicious appetizer, lunch entree, and beverages were provided to guests by the Miami Lakes Hotel. Each attendee, both members and guests, had time to introduce themselves and their business at the event to nearly seventy guests. Attendees consisted of an eclectic variety of business owners, including attorneys, insurance agents, jewelers, physicians, dentists, and so much more. President Fred Senra reaffirmed the Chamber’s focus on growth by increasing the Chamber’s new member enrollment efforts throughout the new year. President Senra also introduced the nominees for the new Board of Directors for 2022 consisting of: Fred Senra as President, Magaly Rubio as Vice President, Rafael Schuck as Treasurer, and Rosa Barroso as Secretary.

Vivian Gonzalez elaborated on her story from her childhood to the current day of the steps she took to get to where she is now and the lessons she has learned along the way. Since she was seven years old, she knew she was determined to become the weather lady on television. With much determination, drive, and gaining skills along the way, this Miami native was able to secure her position as South Florida’s favorite weatherwoman. Her story was deeply inspiring and impactful as it is challenging for females to stand out and succeed in such a competitive field. She also stressed the importance of hurricane preparedness, especially not waiting until the hurricane is just days away to get your supplies. It is important to replenish your expired or non-functioning supplies throughout the year, so when a hurricane is approaching, you are ready.

Guest speaker, WSVN7 Meteorologist Vivian Gonzalez, has a notable amount of accomplishments to her name, including the American Meteorological Seal of Approval. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Geosciences from Mississippi State University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Florida International University. She is a member of The National Weather Association and American Meteorological Society. Gonzalez began her broadcast meteorology career in 2005 during the most active hurricane season and kept the South Florida community prepared with up-to-date information about Hurricane Wilma and Hurricane Katrina. In her spare time, she is an active member of the community educating children about math and science, volunteering for La Liga Contra El Cancer, Community Partnership for the Homeless, and Habitat for Humanity. South Florida locals can tune in every day from 5:00 am to 10:00 am to daily weather forecasts from Vivian Gonzalez.
